Face Transplants

Face transplants aren't the most common because of the availability. Many people who need one must wait years for a donor. Many families aren't willing to let their passed loved one's face be removed, even if it helps another. It's understandable, but because of this they are hard to obtain especially when the patient needs a specific age range. If a person of 25 needed a transplant, not many 25 year olds die and are willing to donate. Many of these wounds are accident based or are self-inflicted. These scars remind them of their regretful choices or an accident that ruined their life. A face plant can change their perspective on life. However, it's scary for many families to allow this little bit of hope. It would bring them an unbearable uncanniness if they saw their son or daughters face on another person. It's their child's face that represented their life and now it could be on another person but it's not them at all. It's scary for anyone, even the one receiving the transplant. It's a double of their dead child which can bring a lot of pain and eeriness. Those who have donated, have helped the patient create a new life for themselves. Although they will never look fully normal, it's much better than how they looked before.
